Between Coffee & Wine On Board SQ 953
"And do you want some drink?" The flight attendant asked me while serving my brunch. I stunned for a moment. Which one is better, coffee or wine, to accompany omelet & sausage brunch at 38.000 feet?
Slowly, I unwrap the foil, covering the yellow omelet. It is still warm. Below the omelet is a piece of sausage, and on the top right is half piece of tomato, roasted, but not burnt. The sausage was rather disappointing. As I slice it, the sausage was rather soft. The taste wasn't that bad though, just not as firm and crunchy as my favorite sausage.
Real feast came from the omelet. I wasn't expecting much after the sausage. The omelet looks pale yellow, lack of sliced chilly, or scallions. But on 2nd slice, bunch of greeny leaf of spinach came out from inside of the omelet. I remember eating spinach wrapped inside Ravioli in Jakarta, which melt in the mouth. " This one is good", I smiled.
Satisfied, I took a sip of coffee, which I finally choose to kick-start the trip. Dessert for my brunch was a piece of banana crumble. It is unidentified type of Banana, wrapped with crumble, topped with icing sugar. Unlike apple crumble, the banana wasn't really crumbled. It is cut, lined topped and served. The banana still maintains its firm texture. I really don't mind having another piece of it.
As I looking out of the window, I took my final sip of coffee. The pilot announce our arrival, as the flight attendant remove my tray, leaving me satisfied, awake, and ready for the whole trip.

Panini @ 30k Feet
It might be not a proper Panini, but it certainly taste great. On board Mandala flight RI592, bound for Bali. It is actually still few hours from lunch time, but since I decided to find some stuff to fill my stomach, just in case I won't have a heavy lunch later. So, I ordered a Panini and a cup of Coffee. The stewardess served my coffee while saying "We are heating the Panini". I paid my food and waiting for the food to come.
Moment later, a Panini wrapped in white paper bag was served on the table. It is hot, so I carefully take a peek to the white bread. Carefully, I took the bread out of its wrapping. It smell nothing. From the mark on top, I see that it is being baked with some kind of Panini Press, but it lack of burnt mark. Between the bread, I can see a slice of cheese, and green pesto sauce.
I took a first bite, and happy with the taste of the Panini, chicken and pesto touching my tongue. The chicken fillet is chewy, match the oily pesto sauce. The chicken rolled, then cut, forming 3 thin circle slices of patty-like chicken. The bread is firm, not hard like ordinary aircraft's bread.
I finish my meal, slowly sipping my cup of coffee that began to cool down. It is an ordinary 3-in-1 coffee, nothing worth to tell about. But the whole meals last me few hours until I finally enjoy a good food of Bali

Breakfast @ GA510
It is very rarely that I can enjoy the meals on board an aircraft. First, the freshness of Tomato served with omelet, beef sausage and the potato make up my breakfast on board of GA510 (served by PK-GZP), bound to Balikpapan.
I was even more surprised to find small cut of smoke beef and tomato inside the omelet. Certainly one of the best airlines meal I ever have.Still avoiding coffee, to keep my sleeping mode....

Umami Bites
A dear friend usually remember your interests. And when they found one beyond ordinary, they do like to share even taking samples for another tasting notes. Snacks on JAL (Japan Airlines) were not an exception. Cashew, almond, nori crackers, rice crackers already make our dear friend nuts, for asking almost five packs repeat order to stewardess. After all and after taste, umami rules. This is Japan we’re talking about, with almost homogenous crackers taste. Wasabi peas works much better, especially on injured nap time after taking a plate of rice and its condiments.

Breakfast @ GA183
As usual, the meals on board of an aircraft is not meant to sooth your taste, but more to survival need. This time, it is about breakfast on a morning flight on board a 737-300 PK-GGV, operating as Garuda Indonesia GA183, 2 hours flight from Medan to Jakarta
Menu served is a bread, topped with some kind of curry and egg, then baked, an unidentified pastry topped with minced meat, slice of orange, melon and papaya. A cup of coffee from the steward complete the early breakfast on the way home.
